Close collaboration key to coordinating complex services and minimising disruption.

Our Wellington Projects & Interiors team completed a reconfiguration of the Link and Blood and Cancer departments at Wellington Regional Hospital. The project was split into two separable portions; separable portion 1 involved a fitout in the Grace Neill Block to provide a new administration area. Separable portion 2 was the reconfiguration of the former administration area on level 3 to create a new Blood and Cancer Centre with 24 treatment bays, 12 bed spaces, 14 consulting rooms and a number of administration spaces and kitchenettes.

The Blood and Cancer Centre fitout was split into four stages to enable the surrounding areas to remain operational and to reduce the overall impact of the construction works. Each construction area was created as a negative pressure space and inspected weekly by Infection Prevention Control.

Each stage required complex investigations, isolations, and adjustments. Close collaboration with the hospital’s Facilities Management team and the project consultants was key to the success of the project.
